Michael Phelps Biography
Michael Phelps is an American swimmer best recognized as the most decorated athlete in Olympic history with 28 medals inclusive of 23 gold medal records.

During the 2008 Games in Beijing, Phelps became the first athlete to win eight gold medals in a single Olympics.
Born in Baltimore, Maryland, and raised in Rodgers Forge, Towson, Michael attended Rodgers Forge Elementary, moved to Dumbarton Middle School, and then Towson High School.
He began swimming at the age of seven partially under the influence of his sisters and partially as a workout plan.
By the age of 10, Phelps held a national record for his age group in the 100-meter butterfly contest. Afterward, he began training at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club under coach Bob Bowman.
Soon after, his coach realized his talent and fierce sense of competition later launching an immense training regime together.
By 1999, David had made it to the United States National Team B.
